Most of the assembly was easy, though getting the footboard spindles to line up and fall into place in the lower rail was a challenge. This bed is very cute, but earns a four for the way it goes together. Not the sturdiest design on the center join where two frame pieces meet in the middle. It's adequate, but could be designed better. The design side of the footboard should face toward the room and not to the interior of the bed. The three holes were pre-drilled on the non-decorative side so if you flip it, there are only two holes and not a space for the peg that serves as a place-holder while joining the footboard to the rail so it is more difficult to assemble.
