I wanted a chest that would be long enough to hold a rolled yoga, blocks, weights and small exercise items. This is solid wood with a solid wood bottom, so no problem with the weights. I love this storage bench. The wood laminate is very convincing and well finished. The curved edge is very clean and modern. I just wish there was a way to adhere or strap the pillowpad onto the top to secure it, I am worried the kids will slip right off if they sit on it. But it is perfect for me. There were a few minor dents and scratches and I was missing a couple of screws so that wasnt great but the hardware for the doors is so nice. The storage bench is not as well made as I would expect it to be (perhaps 3.5 to 4 stars) since it does look nice just material used is cheap. The first one I received had a broken leg, the top thin plastic cover that protects the cushion was ripped which left a small stain and the hinge was broken on the left side. I attached a picture of the leg. Upon contacting Wayfair customer service they promptly took care of it. The replacement I received is in perfect shape. My recommendation to the manufacturer would be to put additional packaging around the legs to keep them from breaking and to use a stronger plastic wrap to protect the top cushion. This is a good storage bench. The larger area has an adjustable optional shelf. The cushion is soft enough for extra seating but firm enough to be sturdy. I was able to put it together myself, but it was frustrating at times. Many of the holes aren’t drilled properly, making it hard to screw in things. The two doors for the larger part aren’t close enough, so you can see a space. The thing to lift up the cushion was especially difficult to screw in.
