As the rating scale indicates, this is JUST WHAT I NEED. For years, I have used cement paving stones to secure our giant umbrella. But those got very dirty. In comes this base. I ordered a cantilever umbrella that had a metal X base which couldn't support the weight of the umbrella so I ordered this to hold it in place. It took about $15-20 worth of sand from the local hardware store to fill it up. For me the base is SO bulky though. Perhaps this isn't something that can be avoided due to the nature of the item and the weight it needs to compensate for but it takes up a lot of space so just make sure you plan for that. I have been needing to get a new base for our umbrella for a while now. When I saw this one, I knew it would be the right choice. The base is very large and made of really thick plastic. It apears to be very durable and super easy to assemble. We have not put it up yet because we are in the middle of hurricane season. As soon as we are given the all clear signal I will be super excited to be able to sot under my umbrella once again.
