Above the middle rail, light is filtered through the fabric to diffuse the sunlight. Below the middle rail, the blackout fabric will block the light from entering the room. You can use it to completely cover your window with light filtering fabric or blackout fabric giving you the control of how much light will enter the room. The cordless operation also allows you to not have to order the exact length of your window. You just simply lower the shade to the desired length. These are in the style of a Roman shade, which is a nice concept for covering the glass panel in French Doors. They are magnetic, so easy to position up or drop down. However, instead of some type of metal or sturdy resin material, the “rod” inserts at the back of the shade are cheap plastic tubes which do not fit tightly enough or stay together very well— when inserting to the back of the curtain, the sections come apart. There are several colors to choose from, and the material is lightweight, but blocks even the strong sunlight we have in the desert.
