This could have been a wonderful 5-star review ... if only the fireplace worked. The mantel looks wonderful. I love my room with it in it. But this is supposed to be an electrical fireplace, not merely a piece of furniture. It's supposed to heat the room and to display a realistic looking flame. It did none of that when I got it. The remote doesn't work at all. And ever since it arrived, nearly a month ago, I've been trying to get someone to help me fix or replace this. After a few phone calls they promised to send a replacement for the firebox. But then I got an email saying the replacement was canceled. It turns out that was an error. I did get a package, but I had no idea what it was. No indication it came from Wayfair. It didn't look like the firebox. It was some sort of transformer/converter, with all print in Chinese, which I can't read. I finally spent an hour on the phone with a very nice lady at Wayfair, and we figured out that the transformer fixed part of the problem. I got heat! But the remote still doesn't work and I can't access most functions. And if I turn the heat on, I need to burn my fingers to turn it off on the fireplace without the remote. We looked everywhere for an electric log set that would fit in the small firebox of our woodburning fireplace. Burning real wood isn’t practical in this 5th-floor condo in the city, but we love the ambiance and heat of a fire over the long Minnesota winter. We are extremely happy with this product so far! Since we have a snug firebox for the “flames” to project on, we chose not to attach the rear screen. The glowing coals and flames look pretty convincing in person, especially with the screen closed. We’ll have to use white tape to conceal the cord for now and eventually plan to hide it in a special track with the help of a carpenter coming to build our adjacent bookshelf units. We haven’t used the heating function yet since we’re current experiencing very hot summer weather, so can’t comment on that. Overall we’re just delighted with how this looks (more like a glowing coal basket, which we like, vs. “fake logs”) and how it’s allowing us to make use of this existing fireplace. Our order arrived several weeks ahead of time thank goodness! It was packed very well in wood crates. The fireplace is lovely - very solidly made and looks exactly like the picture. This is a beautiful fireplace! It came quickly in one large, heavy box that contains several smaller boxes. It was much easier to carry the smaller boxes inside. The assembly took roughly 2 12 hours with one person and a power drill. The instructions are clear and very easy to follow. You will assemble the entire fireplace upside down, except for the logs. If youre doing it by yourself, make sure youre able to lift heavy items. I had to ask for help to turn it right-side up because I wasnt confident I could do it by myself without damaging it. After placing right-side up, its easy to maneuver on hardwood floor. The flame has one flickering color setting (multi-colored with orange and blue), 3 glowing logs, and 5 levels of brightness and flame speed. You can adjust with the remote or buttons on the firebox. The flame can be used with or without heat. There is a timer that you can set between 30 minutes and 9 hours. The heat comes out of a blower on the top left and adjusts easily based on desired temperature from 62 to 82 degrees Fahrenheit (you can also change this to Celsius). The blower isnt especially loud, similar to a standing fan. I didnt turn it on for long since its almost summer but it heated up quickly. The background can be the brick look or just black. The fireplace is very sturdy, easily holding my 58in TV and is the perfect height to watch from my bed. The storage above the fireplace is bigger than it initially looks. The drawer opening is 6 in tall but the inside is 9in tall x 34in wide x 11in deep. I wanted storage big enough to hold a Wii game system and game discs (and it does). I will have to put a hole in the back panel for the cords though. I do wish this unit had more flame options but overall, Im happy with my purchase.. Julia B.. IL. Mon May 18 2026
