Tiny Japanese Nativity Set

Celestial scenes inhabit the upper composition of this altar, as figures in traditional Andean attire celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ beneath a rich, floral canopy. This form of Peruvian folk art is known as the retablo , especially characteristic of the Ayacucho region. The frame is crafted by hand from wood, while Alejandro Chávez fills the shelves with tiny ceramic characters painted to joyous perfection.

First off, I had looked everywhere for a decent nativity set. This one is exquisite. I love the detail in the pieces and the colors- everything! absolutely beautiful very well-made. I will say be careful when standing the taller pieces up. Make sure they are balanced before you let go. I did have one of the wisemen tip over onto the granite countertop and amazingly he did not chip or break anywhere! I love the fact that they are so well packed in the Styrofoam partitions and you can keep the box that they came in. I would highly recommend it because they fit so well back down into that box I just marked the box “nativity set “and put it in with my other Christmas decorations. I can’t wait to pull this beauty out in December and display it in my home. Definitely definitely recommend this set.. Sandra. Leon, WV. Sun Oct 18 2026

Jose Canil Ramos combines Guatemala's Day of the Dead customs with Christian traditions for the design of this extraordinary nativity scene. "I thought it would be fun to make it with innocent skeletons," explains Canil. He carves each pinewood figurine by hand, allowing each piece to bake to achieve an aged, rustic appearance. This nativity scene includes the Holy Family, the Three Kings, and angel and mule and an ox, for a total of nine pieces. Joseph's hand and staff, as well as the angel's wings are removed for shipping.
