I like this lamp. The base is very solid, it stands up well, and it looks nice. I can't in good conscience give it more than two stars for two primary reasons: First, it claims to be glass, but I've never met glass that makes a dead "thud" sound when you tap it. It seems like molded plastic to me. Second, as pointed out in other reviews, it does not have a rotary switch - it has a foot switch. The listing on Wayfiar is blatantly incorrect/false/deceptive, take your pick of adjective. If the listing wasn't deceptive I would probably give this five stars. Just beware of what you are buying..
