In striking contrast to the white blanket of snow, somber Death spreads her powerful wings over even the digger of graves. A German Symbolist painter, Charles Schwabe, inspired by the demise of a close friend the year prior, persuaded his wife to pose as his model for death in this idealistic and very personal work of art. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. The replica 4.375" wide, European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.

Change the frame (smaller width and not gold). Increase colour vibrancy.. Alan. ON. Tue Jul 17 2018

Aurora, Roman goddess of the dawn, throws wide the shining doors of morning, the discarded roses at her feet belying her inexhaustible passion. The Victorian sensibilities of the artist's contemporaries were disturbed as they easily identified Draper's extraordinarily sexualized figure as a popular model of the day, Florrie Bird. Though Draper's largely female figures were not popular in the artistic circle of his day, his skill is recognized in our time. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. This Rococo-style wall niche echoes centuries of tradition! Cast directly from an English antique, this work of decorative art boasts fine detail, from its acanthus leaf finial to its classic columns. Crafted in quality designer resin, it is finished to be virtually indistinguishable from dark walnut.

Just gorgeous! It is rich and very much appears to be made of wood, despite it being some type of resin or other composite material (I believe). It is absolutely stunning and I plan to purchase another in the near future.. Melanie Vaughn. Missouri. Thu Aug 27 2026

Forsaken passion trembles within this riveting watercolor painting by Victorian artist, Burton. This richly detailed Gothic work is an illustration of forbidden love from the Danish ballad of Hellelil and Hildebrand, prince of Engellend. Pre-Raphaelite in style, the brilliant intense hue of this Medieval image is similar to that of an oil painting. The authentic stretched canvas replica painting captures the original work's texture, depth of color, and even its subtle brushstrokes, which are applied by hand. This replica European style, bright gold-toned, ribbed frame is cast in quality designer resin with an acanthus leaf and floret border that draws the eye toward the beautiful image. Proudly printed and framed in the USA using imported molding.

The painting is smaller than I had envisioned, but that's my fault. The dimensions were for the picture and the frame; I should have realized that. However, my husband thinks it's the perfect size for a wall in our living room. It replaced a framed photo of the Grand Canyon that we no longer noticed, and this Victorian watercolor is more apropos for our Arts & Crafts decor. Now I'm jonesing for "La Belle Dame Sans Merci," but that will have to wait due to the rising cost of living.. Art Nouveau. Flagstaff. Thu Jan 01 2026

A young servant holds a mirror so the exquisitely beautiful maiden may see as she wraps her lavish silken headdress to best effect. Painted after the artist's visit to Damascus in 1873, the work combines elements of rich Orientalism with a thoroughly western model, Dorothy Dene. Inspired by Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem, "Come into the Garden, Maud," the Soul of the Rose was a Victorian favorite for its celebration of woman, romanticly detailing the love and longing. Conveying the beauty of a garden similarly reflecting and framing the beautiful red-haired woman in blushing shades. Also known as "My Sweet Rose." John William Waterhouse, the well-known Victorian painter who embraced the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood's style, communicating his aesthetic vision through the vivid use of color, Neo-classical, formalism, and realistic depictions of strong women using romantic poems, Greek myths, and Arthurian legends.
