Originally sourced to Sri Lanka, it was likely made for European communities in Batavia and Colombo, or for families of mixed European and Asian descent wishing to emulate Western taste. The Milanese Armor that inspired our Milan Diamond Grasscloth and Appliqué Tape is a unique example of Italian armor made with German influences. Created around 1510, this rare example with fluted surfaces in German fashion is etched with Christian symbolism and references to the Bible, including images of the Virgin and Child and saints Paul and George as well as Latin inscriptions. The armor is adorned with richly gilt ornamentation that we’ve emulated in our products, which will add charm to any room they’re featured in. This wallcovering is made of laser-cut metallic cork appliquéd on grasscloth. The mix of materials in this textile creates an interesting texture that is both eye-catching and understated. This design is based on Jean Cocteau’s famous “Cap D’Ail” ceramics, made in 1963. Greek-inspired in the manner of the Cap D’Ail open-air theater, the design symbolizes the fusion of sky and earth on a background of multicolored leaves. Raphael is one of our most popular printed wallpapers. The pattern gives you treetops in a wide range of color combinations. The inspiration for this pattern was partly taken from Central Park in New York – a leafy park surrounded by glass-and-concrete skyscrapers and a beautiful contrast to the bustling city. The pattern is also inspired by antique tapestries, where stylized leaves are often shown in fields of light and shade. Design: daniel långelid.

The colorways were developed in 2015, with the filigree omitted from the fabric design. These wallcoverings and colorways remain true to the fabric's original design. Intricately detailed flowers and lush foliage accompanied by whimsical birds and playful squirrels add to its timeless appeal. This design is part of the collection inspired by Carl and Karin Larsson, an iconic and beloved Swedish design family active in the 19th century. The design duo still inspires the whole world with their artistry, their home, and their way of living. When Carl was out traveling Karin found time to, in secrecy, create this beautiful weaving that was filled with loving symbols. She made it thinly woven and double-sided to allow the sunlight to come through and eye contact between the spouses from their separate bedrooms.

This wallpaper looks even better in person than in pictures. The colors are exactly what is pictured. I had my contractors crew install it. It seemed to go up easily. I wish I would have ordered more, so that they could have lined the pattern up properly, but it's a bit pricey. I only ordered enough to cover the walls...no overage. Based on an early 18th-century French document, Chinoise Exotique is a grand design depicting Chinese figures hunting exotic Indian animals. This pattern is a classic example of the kinds of chinoiserie patterns developed for export to the European market in the early 1700s. These fabrics became so popular that France passed a law banning them from sale out of fear that they would collapse the French textile market.

Created in collaboration with Timothy Corrigan, Huntington Gardens is a romantic, painterly take on the classic tree-of-life motif. This exquisite large-scale botanical wallpaper layers easily with other patterns and works beautifully in any room.

Flowers were an interest Karin and Carl had in common. Karin liked to grow flowers, and the flowers triggered Carl’s desire to paint. They always had seasonal flowers in bouquets indoors, and Karin arranged all the flowers seen in Carl’s paintings.

This graceful chinoiserie print was discovered in a small room in the Noble Hardee Mansion in Savannah, Georgia, which has been described as “the last unrestored grand mansion in Savannah”. The house dates back to 1860, and the aged hand-printed paper is thought to have been installed by a decorator who owned the house in the 1960s or 1970s. The paper has widely been attributed to Scalamandré, and it became a mission of ours to bring it back to life, as wallcovering with a matching cotton chintz fabric. It was photographed in sections on-site, redrawn line for line, and matched for its original color of white and grey leaves against an espresso ground. The grandly scaled, nearly four-foot repeat and classic bamboo foliage speak to its adaptation from antique hand-painted Chinese silk wall panels, interpreted in a loose brushstroke style that is typical of more contemporary handprints. New color additions such as Jade and Ciel add a fresh look to this timeless design. Now printed on a 54" nonwoven ground, this mural-like paper features crisp printing, deeply saturated color, and easily paste–wall installation.

Union is an all-over motif inspired by design on the “Jeunesse Franco-Allemande” ceramic platter made by Jean Cocteau in 1963.
