Beautiful terracotta base. A substantial lamp that is full of earthy character. The shade didn't work for me though. Felt too big, and because I have the lamp sitting on a side table in our sunken living room, you could see too much of the inside and the bulb. I realized I needed an empire shade instead of a drum, so I had to spend the extra money to purchase a different shade. But I'm happy with the purchase overall. Note that you can see a "seam" (one on each side) where the potter put the two pieces together I assume. I like it and think it adds to the character, but others may not.. Andrea. This is one beautiful lamp. It's sturdy but I think it is made of a heavy resin and not ceramic like the specs say. However, it will make it more durable knowing I don't have to worry about it chipping. The color is perfect. I was afraid it would be too pink but it is a warm earthtone. And the shade! Let me tell you, it just adds to the look of the lamp. It is packaged so well that the lamp shade did not suffer damage in transit. It is definitely not a cheesy lampshade that you have to put together with Velcro like is required of some lamps on another website that sells all kinds of things. The shade color is a light tan and not a bright white which is perfect because this lamp suggests calm light for the room and it certainly delivers that, along with a great design!. Marie Diane.
