I actually love the base, but it is definitely not white. I would say it is more of a yellowish cream with a taupe pattern through it. If you’re wanting pure white, this is not the vase. Outstanding naturual terracotta color and does not look too orange like many of the pots I looked at. While it is heavy, it is not that heavy for its size and the shipping was outstanding. I was most concerned about a broken pot arriving by freight and it turned out to be packed in an insulation foam that surrounded the product and totally protected it. If left outside, water may accumulate in the container and freeze, causing the planter to crack and break. This rustic terra cotta pot is given its unique character by using a centuries old, handmade process using canvas lined molds and traditionally fired kilns then rubbed by hand with dried moss and let to sit outdoors to naturally age which gives it a one-of-a-kind natural patina. Each piece is distressed using old clay to add texture and individually handled so natural ware such as gentle chips and variation in color are to be expected and embraced. This Terra Cotta Pot has a drainage hole.

These rustic pots are lovely, and just what I was looking for. My only complaint is what is with all the excessive packaging! Seriously. These are rustic, somewhat pitted terra cotta pots. Not precious china. But I now need to dispose of a huge box of styrofoam pellets. Way overkill. They probably could have been shipped with a nice little wrap of bubble wrap, which they had, but then covered by a ton of styrofoam. Please remember that this is the only planet we’ve got. So far.. This rustic terra cotta pot is given its unique character by using a centuries-old, handmade process using canvas-lined molds and traditionally fired kilns then rubbed by hand with dried moss and let to sit outdoors to naturally age which gives it a one-of-a-kind natural patina. Each piece is distressed using old clay to add texture and individually handled so natural ware such as gentle chips and color variation are to be expected and embraced.
