The directions are awful, there's a youtube video that shows a guy setting up a similar gate, his is French door style but the set up is very similar so it was helpful because we were totally lost trying to figure it out. Anyway its perfect for our needs. We needed to keeo 3 if our cats separate from one cat. They can slip through sometimes by messing with the side pole to move it over just enough to slip through but still this is a good enough solution for us. Super easy to assemble, (I even cut the tie off that was clearly marked DO NOT CUT), but it worked out fine. This gate is very strong and well made, looks nice, and is very easy to open. Couldn't be happier. NOTE: I was not able to install this where I originally wanted, one wall was slanted on a 45 degree and the other was square. The way it looks to me you need a flat surface for the pressure mounts to work properly on a flat wall. They do provide railing mounts for stair banisters.
