The pole insert seems sturdy as well, but I am thinking I will drill a hole on bottom so no water accumulates at bottom.. The piece looks nice and seems sturdy. I’ve tried other ways of anchoring outdoor string light and this is by far the best looking. They recommend stringing lighter weight string lights which does help a lot. I started with heavier lights and the poles would be at a slight angle. I filed the base with water. I live in an area that can get very windy and these are stable even during high winds.. Julie.
