I was a little worried when my package arrived as the box had some damage to it, but thankfully my headboard didn't. It can stand alone on it's own or attach to a bedframe. It is heavy enough to just stand on it's own, but I put bolts in mine, that didn't come with it, and mounted it to my frame. It does match the online description of it and its pictures very well. One star off for the overall quality of the wood. I really wanted a solid wood headboard, which this is but it just feels a little cheap.
