This bench was exactly what I was looking for. The color was as shown in the pictures. It is a beautiful, deep mahogany with no scratches, cracks or other issues. It is a good size for my entryway — not too big as to overpower the hall but big enough for two to sit comfortably. Very sturdy. I put it together on my own in less than two hours. This is a wonderful bench. I needed something to fit under my window and it is ideal. It is not the most comfortable without adding the lumbar support pillow, and it is more of a place to sit upright than to kick back in. The piece that lifts up so you can access the cavity for storage is very heavy so I don’t actually open it that often. Fits well in the space where I wanted it and with the shelves in place can store about 8 pairs of most (flat) shoes behind the two doors. On the down side: 2 of the hinges were very tight. the pre-patterned places to install one of the doors was slightly off so the one door looks uneven and does not close properly with the magnet. the fabric on the cushion is very chintzy- I will end up recovering it (which is not a big deal)..
