This Mercer41 storage bench exceeded my expectations. The velvet upholstery looks really high-end in person, and the vertical tufting with the gold metal base gives it a modern luxury look without feeling over the top. It instantly made my bedroom feel more polished and put together. The hidden storage is actually pretty spacious too — I was able to fit extra blankets, pillows, and a few miscellaneous items easily. The flip-top design feels smooth and sturdy, and the bench itself feels solid when sitting on it. Assembly was quick and straightforward, mostly just attaching the base. I also love how versatile it is. It works great at the foot of a bed, in an entryway, or even as extra seating in a living room. The fabric is soft and comfortable, though like most velvet pieces, it does show marks depending on the lighting and direction of the fabric. Love this bench! It was quite an ordeal to put together but it finally all fit the way it was intended. I would however have put the handles and drawer pulls on before hanging the doors or building the drawers. I am disappointed in the cushion as it is very hard and the off-white is not that pretty with the white wood. The cushion cover is not very snug either. I plan to make a new cover to match my furnishings, so that will solve that problem.
