This star and cross tile helped us transform a dark garden level basement space that had only ever been used for storage, into a beautiful garden studio room for potting and garden projects. It created a gorgeous entry into our newly renovated basement, from the backyard, and adds a “Wow!” factor we weren’t sure we could achieve in this space. The colorways and finishes on the tiles in our Souk collection call to mind sunbaked, terracotta-rich Mediterranean towns. The tiles are in fact made of porcelain and ceramic that look like terracotta, cut while still wet into an elegant star-and-cross or classic subway. Stone color is just as pictured - we love the mostly gray & greenish hue to this. We weren't a fan of the few odd orange/yellow tones in there on each sheet, but I ordered a few extra samples so that I could pull those off the mosaic sheet & swap them. UPDATE - I'm adding some pics that show my modified sheet (w/mustards & browns pulled off & our final installation. LOVE LOVE LOVE this!! The real Crema Marfil is quarried near Alicante, Spain, and is technically a limestone. However, it is widely labeled as a Marble because it can be polished to a high shine. It has a subtle beige veined background and is an excellent material if you are looking for a gentle warm neutral color palette. Please beware of less expensive options on the market quarried often from Turkey, Indonesia, Egypt, or China as they have less desirable yellow, pink or red hues.
