Inspired by the tropical craftsmanship of the West Indies and classic British and Dutch colonial design periods, the Charleston writing desk has a timeless kidney shape, stretchers, rattan drawer fronts, intricately carved leaf motifs on the legs, and a robust leather writing surface top. Crafted of cherry veneers, rattan, and resin, it is finished in the deep, rich Maraschino cherry. There are five drawers. The left and right top drawers have one removable partition, one writing slide, and a pencil tray for use in either drawer. The center drawer has a drop-front for keyboard use. Antique bronze round knobs and ring-pull hardware add the finishing touch.

This is a extremely well made, high quality desk of solid wood. It comes completely preassembled out of the box and mine had no defects. That said, it is extremely heavy so you definitely need help removing it from packaging and placing it. The color is more of a dove gray with some natural variation but I wouldn’t say it is distressed. It has a classic appeal but the shape and drawer pulls make it look a little more modern. Beautiful, sturdy desk. Gave 4 stars due to four of the pre-drilled holes not being complete by the manufacturer. My husband had to use his electric drill to complete the holes and doing this a piece of the veneer chipped off. Thankfully this chipped veneer piece is small and cannot be seen. If the manufacturer had correctly made the holes for the screws then my husband would not have had to use his electric drill. Overall desk is very nice and perfect for my home office.. April.
