I have an older home and need smaller sized stair treads. These are perfect! It was very helpful that they're offered in a variety of sizes (not all treads are). Unlike tape, rubber backed stair treads will not cause damage to the surface when you attempt to remove them. No additional steps are required to place the stair carpet, just clean the stairs and put them on.

I was looking for anti-slip treads that I didn't have to use adhesive on and these were a clear winner. They do have a bit of a funky chemical smell right out of the package because they are rubberized, but it dissipated within a day. Love the look and feel of these stair tread mats but wish they didnt move around as much as they do. I bought these because my dog is aging and keeps sliding and slipping as she goes up and down the stairs. These carpet treads help her with her grip and are particularly helpful when it is raining. However, when our parents come over we remove them because they do slide around and I would hate for them to slip and fall. The design is brilliant, but the execution of some key aspects is horrid. There is a piece of metal cut and shaped to cover the lip of the stair. The glue that is meant to adhere the fabric to the metal has already failed on most of the stairs, just sitting in the box. If these were installed as-is, they would create a dangerous trip hazard going up the stairs, as every step would be an opportunity to catch your foot. These are medium duty stair treads. This is my second purchase, the first set were used on my back stairs and have held up nicely for almost a year and a half and still perform and look good. I stapled them on the back stairs, but don't recommend doing that, the cheapo staples rusted.
