Absolutely wonderful. First off it was packed well and every piece was protected. Secondly the scent was of fresh stain and or finish of poly but is dissipated within an hour. The wood was beautiful and it matched our 1960 end tables perfectly. The instructions were so easy to follow we had it together in an hour. I would say have 2people to put it together. OMG the bed is so well priced. I was really hesitant but I have seen needs in stores and hand crafted furniture stores for similar quality for triple the price. I am really happy with this purchase! Ok, giving this 4.5 stars for aesthetic and solid wood frame. HOWEVER, please be cautioned There were some dings and splintering that are fortunately hidden after assembly with one acception. The assembly itself self took 2.5 hrs with a couple sanity breaks. Each spindled piece has an item sticker that would be visible and thus needed removal. I ruined my nails and spent 10x as long removing stickers and the glue as I did putting the head and footboard together. After FINALLY getting this bed put together, I almost cried contemplating the labor intensive deconstruction that would be required to take it out of the room. This project is not for the faint of heart. It is, indeed, a project. I would not deduct stars as paying for assembly is an option. Also, an oversight on my part, but the bedframe will not house a mattress and box spring, only a mattress. My biggest frustration was the assembly, and second the blemishes on the frame. We needed a replacement specifically to accommodate a new adjustable base, since our old bed wasn’t compatible. What a lovely bed! We have slept on it for the past few nights now, and it seems to be sturdy and of good quality. It holds our Avocado mattress and topper nicely, no box spring needed. I’ve actually slept much better these past few nights, and it seems to be because this bed sits lower to the floor than our previous platform bed. The bed itself is beautiful and looks great in my guest bedroom—it feels solid and well-made, which is the only reason I’m giving it 4 stars. Unfortunately, everything else went downhill from there. As is often the case with Wayfair, the item arrived damaged. The wood had visible dings, screws were missing, and the shipment came in two boxes delivered on separate days, which delayed assembly. Putting it together wasn’t smooth either. The instructions were fairly clear, but the screw holes didn’t align properly, making it impossible to assemble the bed perfectly.. Caryn. US.
