This is a 'solid wood' desk but it still feels cheaply made. I have had lots of time to review the pieces as it did not come with assembly instructions. I have requested them and it apparently takes a whole business day to respond with the instructions that should have been included. If you think you may want assembly, make sure you order at the same time. My order gave me the option after the fact, and I tried to add the service and it charged my card. Then the message (and follow up chat) told me it wasn't eligible to add assembly. Now I have to wait 3-5 days for the charge to be reversed. Over all very underwhelmed by my experience purchasing this $2,000 desk.. Anonymous. Sat Jul 18 2026

The delivery was professional however the customer service was not. I called wayfair while waiting for the item to ship because I saw at 1 point that the assembly was being offered for free after I made my purchase and I wanted to add this to my order. I was told that it was going to be included but when I asked again the day before delivery, I was told that they didnt know what I was talking about. What I dont like is being told different things by different people. I would not be disappointed if I was never told that the service was going to be free only for them to tell me this was not the case 24 hours before delivery and furthermore if I wanted it now it would cost me $90.. This is a stunning, substantial piece for my townhome's office/den. I love the black iron bar that runs through it. Great material and color juxtaposition to the solid wood. The bar is both stylish and functional as a foot rest. No ottoman needed! One caution - the walnut is much more light cherry-ish than medium brownish walnut wood, so it hardly looks like the product photo, but thankfully it still comes across as modern, as I didn't want a traditional-looking desk. Love that you can see the wood knots and veining. Gives it the authentic wood look that solid wood deserves.. Nicolette. University Heights, OH. Thu Feb 12 2026
