This desk is an excellent value at this price point. Pressed wood, but looks realistic enough. It’s quite solid and well made. It does take quite a bit of time to put together but I wouldn’t say it was hard. The directions had a lot of detail and were simple to follow. I put it together mostly alone over two days (desk one day, hutch the next). My only complaint is the picture on Wayfair is misleading in color. It is not a true grey as I had hoped. They are beautiful, substantial, have tons of storage, and feel very sturdy. The white finish with the darker wood top looks even better in person. Fair warning though assembly is a PROJECT. The first desk took us about 5 hours, and even knowing exactly what we were doing, the second still took about 4 hours. I would absolutely recommend having two people, plenty of space, and a whole lot of patience. That being said, the instruction manual was surprisingly clear and helpful. There are simply a LOT of pieces and steps involved. Once assembled, though Worth it. They look like much more expensive pieces of furniture and completely transformed our homeschool room. I especially love all of the drawers, cabinets, shelving, and built-in desktop outlets. If you’re willing to survive the assembly process, I highly recommend them. Nicely built, lots of storage for needed items. Great lighting although hard to find where located. Delivery was attempted too early without contact. Young men were strong but when I requested they take off wrapping in garage area, they didn’t listen and brought pieces inside and I had to clean area behind them. They didn’t argue just didn’t do what I requested. They were fine afterwards and no further issues. Very sturdy!! And well made. Look for screws outside of the interior box as our box was open and the screw package fell out as we opened the bigger box but did find it eventually while clearing up the packaging! I really love this piece as it is better than the 1st 'craft center' (that is how I use it) I purchased a few years ago which was ruined by a flood in our basement (no fault of Wayfair of course)! It has more style with the sliding drawers, costs a lot less, but did not come with a separate file cabinet like the 1st, but do not need it as this one has 2 file drawers. And the best part, is it has a electric recepitcal on the top of the desk for a lamp or another appliance if needed. And it fits in my ensuite walk-in closet (which is my little craft room). I’m so happy with how the desk looks now that we’ve finished putting it together! Now, onto the challenging part assembling this desk was quite the adventure! There were so many screws, and connecting the wood involved some serious screwing. Even after we were done, there were still 58 screws for the back of the desk! Can you believe it Plus, it took us a whopping 5.5 hours to get it all together! We also found some damaged wood pieces (I’ve included pictures) that we had to skip because I didn’t want to deal with returning it and getting a replacement with the same issue. Great desk with good quality and nice appearance. Good addition to my home office. Only flaw was the file drawers which are too narrow to place files perpendicular to the drawer, which is allowing use of the entire drawer. It is not by much, however, this requires the files to be placed a long the length of the drawer. When you place the hanging files, this way, the opening of the drawer is not sufficient to avoid having to bend them a little bit in order to hook onto the rails. This makes it very easy to scratch the wood on the drawer just above the file drawer. It is surprising that they didn’t make the drawer just a quarter inch wider to allow for normal hanging file orientation. If you’d like to use a tray within the drawer, the smaller drawers are also too narrow for their typical size of the trays.. Anonymous. Fri Dec 06 2024
