However, I only recommended it for those ready for the technical and physical challenges and have the skills, time, and patience for assembling things like this. The instructions describe the general order of assembly and are insufficient on certain details. It comes in five boxes, so be sure to do a complete inventory before starting. I spent more than 24 hours (with break times) for unpacking, inventory, and assembly, including getting the drawers and doors operating smoothly to running, wrapping, and placement of power, video, and data cables so that they are just right. When I saw the top arriving in two halves, I was immediately concerned. Fortunately, they fit together securely. The photo is meant to show not only the split, but also the surface, which has a lot of beautiful grain, but is also quite rough. I will add a glass surface. I love the heavy, solid legs. There were two very minor defects. One was a split that was solidified with a screw during the normal assembly process. The other is at a corner and is virtually invisible. I love this desk! To simplify our golden years we purchased a 2100 sf home. For the office I ordered this desk in Brown (47.23” width) and it fits perfectly. It is well made, the trim and color variation are lovely. Very simple to assemble for two people by attaching the legs to desk. Everything was securely wrapped and padded when boxed for shipment. I no longer need a deep file drawer, as I don’t keep tons of files these days. (I use a portable file box tote that is easily accessible and ready to transport during an emergency). The desk is great overall. I really like the finish and it’s heavy which, for me speaks to the quality of the build. It was a relatively easy process to assemble as well. Unfortunately, there were several dings in the desk that I believe resulted from being delivered by FedEx rather than the delivery company that usually delivers larger pieces of furniture. Therefore, this very large and heavy desk was delivered by one man. I honestly don’t even know how he got it up on the front porch all on his own. This is a beautiful desk and solid. Followed the directions page by page and had no issues. Took my time, had the football game on TV and poured myself a cocktail during the build. Depending on how fast you work depends on how much time it will take to assemble. Took me an evening and the next morning to complete but I took my time with no stress. Only minor issue is the drawers are a bit tight but they may smooth out with use. Love the desk and for the price you can’t beat it. A desk like this at a local store is about $1200.
