This desk is an excellent value at this price point. Pressed wood, but looks realistic enough. It’s quite solid and well made. It does take quite a bit of time to put together but I wouldn’t say it was hard. The directions had a lot of detail and were simple to follow. I put it together mostly alone over two days (desk one day, hutch the next). My only complaint is the picture on Wayfair is misleading in color. It is not a true grey as I had hoped. The first desk took us about 5 hours, and even knowing exactly what we were doing, the second still took about 4 hours. I would absolutely recommend having two people, plenty of space, and a whole lot of patience. That being said, the instruction manual was surprisingly clear and helpful. There are simply a LOT of pieces and steps involved. Once assembled, though Worth it. They look like much more expensive pieces of furniture and completely transformed our homeschool room. I especially love all of the drawers, cabinets, shelving, and built-in desktop outlets. If you’re willing to survive the assembly process, I highly recommend them. The only issue I had was how the assembly was layered out. The lower side cabinets are connected at first with the smallest flimsy connection and any movement afterwards will stress the connections and break, as it did for me. For that, it loses half a star. We are turning our open-concept landing into a study/library area. It's a multi-purpose space for now while my daughter is living at home after college. Slowly we are remodeling, so for now we thought we'd add this French Country executive desk where she can study. This provides a beautiful, pickled wood look, with plenty of drawer space. The furniture is well-made, and VERY heavy. It comes in 4 large boxes that the FedEx driver left at our curb. Overall we love the piece! Putting it together was super smooth, until we got to the drawer slides. The holes that are pre-drilled didn't line up with the slides. Luckily my husband is an expert with power tools, so he was able to place the holes where they were needed. There is also a very visible white metal bar that I didn't see when I purchased the item. So we will likely cover this up with trim and paint it a similar color. This has made an otherwise non-functional area into a terrific spot for my daughter to study. Very sturdy!! And well made. Look for screws outside of the interior box as our box was open and the screw package fell out as we opened the bigger box but did find it eventually while clearing up the packaging! I really love this piece as it is better than the 1st 'craft center' (that is how I use it) I purchased a few years ago which was ruined by a flood in our basement (no fault of Wayfair of course)! It has more style with the sliding drawers, costs a lot less, but did not come with a separate file cabinet like the 1st, but do not need it as this one has 2 file drawers. And the best part, is it has a electric recepitcal on the top of the desk for a lamp or another appliance if needed. And it fits in my ensuite walk-in closet (which is my little craft room).
