The top is a heavy board that is edge and finger joint glued together and finished in veneer. The legs are also fingerjointed boards. It generally looks nice, but the finish is quite sloppy. there are some rough spots where it was not thoroughly sanded too. I purchased this table because it was on sale. This is one product/company review that I was excited to post. I ordered the Cendrillon L-Shape Desk along with the 1-Drawer Storage and 2-Drawer Storage Cabinets. I am very happy with the quality and style of this wedge corner desk. The furniture is very well made and looks great - exactly what I wanted. Five stars for Wayfair on speed of delivery and customer service. The shipping estimate I received from several furniture stores for these pieces was 10-12 weeks. I found this set on Wayfair and it was delivered in 5 days! One of the cabinets was damaged upon arrival, and Wayfair is replacing this item at no charge ... and I do not have to return it. This was such a pleasant surprise! The cabinet is heavy and repacking and shipping it back would have been very difficult for me. This desk is even better than I expected! It’s very sturdy and feels like hard wood (not a scrap of veneer in sight!) and is a perfect little writing desk. It’s going in our guest room so it’ll get light use but it’s definitely up to the challenge for daily use. The wood is similar in tone and texture to butcher block but adds good warmth to the room. This desk is as nice as I hoped it would be. The top is solid and the finish is rich and pretty. The drawers are not fully attached to the top.
