These lanterns are beautiful! I got the bronze. They are well made with attention to detail. The instructions state to charge them for 6 hours. I received them at 3:45 pm. My apartment faces east, and the sun was already over my apartment building, no longer on my balcony or coming in any windows. I set them on the balcony receiving only daylight. At dark, they lit right up full power. So, either they were already charged, or the daylight was adequate for charging. I get only about 3 hours of sun on my balcony due to trees and the building east of mine being higher on a ridge and blocking sun at times , so they have never been charged for 6 hours straight. This thing is amazing! I would prefer the option to have a softer yellow tone light in addition to the bright white, but it fits my needs. Needed a light out near the chicken coop/run but too far from nearest electrical feed to run anything permanent. This fits the bill. I have it on the mode where the light stays on low but comes on bright when approached or when it signals motion from a predator. Lights up the area very well for night time feeding/cleaning activities. I will remove the water from base and replace with sand before winter. I found the same item on another (much more expensive) website before I found the exact same thing here at a substantially better price (kicking myself over that one). This lantern is just beautiful in both day and night environments, but especially at night, when the colors reflect on the surface the lantern is sitting on.
