Comes largely put together and you have to slot in a couple of pieces and that is it. Took 15 mins with 2 of us. Fabric is surprisingly good for the price and is nice to the touch. The seat part of the sofa is not hard but not soft. I would say medium to soft but this is understandable given it is a sofa bed and I am overall very impressed with its comfort. Love the Quaility and modular construction. Very easy to put together. Day 2 of delivery and still see a little sign of compression on back cushions but expect that to decompress with time. The microfiber material seen very good in Quaility. My only minor issue was a few springs on the pull out had fallen out and need to be reinstalled but nothing after that. I would recommend it. I purchased this sleep sofa for my family room. If I need an extra sleep space for guests, this is what I selected. My number 1 reason for selecting this sofa is because it’s from Stearns Foster. I already own a mattress from them and have been extremely satisfied with the quality and comfort. I purposely sought out Stearns Foster to see if they even offered sleep sofas. I was pleased to see they did and also the mattress is more substantial at 8” thick versus many that are much thinner. The seating is firmer than many standard sofas, but that is to be expected when there is a mattress tucked into the sofa. This couch is very comfortable and attractive. It was also fairly easy to convert into the bed option. AND the bed is surprisingly comfortable. Not always the case with a convertible beds. This sofa may have been the best purchase of 2026! Our daughter needed a sofafuton for her dorm room and this fit absolutely perfectly under her lofted bed! It came rolled up and compressed in a box which was perfect for transport. It was about 40lbs so on the heavier side. The outside of the box was misleading. There was a drawing of what like looked like a beanbag chair, which had us all worried. Upon arriving at the dorm, we opened the packaging and the sofa expanded. It was “installed” in 5 minutes. No weird off-gassing smells either. Note it takes 72 hours for the sofa to be ready for use. It’s been two weeks and my daughter still reports that the sofa is extremely comfortable and is getting much use. She already has a list of friends ready to come visit!
