It is hung with the 20 chain. For perspective, we replaced a 20 year old pile rubbed bronze fixture that was 18 in diameter. I received the Xareni chandelier 2 days after ordering, which is awesome. It was boxed neatly and with care, which is so important with a fragile item. I unboxed it, and it is absolutely beautiful! The Wayfairs photos are very accurate, with the exception of the way they depicted the size. It looks larger in the photos than it actually is, so check the description, but its still a great size.
