These turned out beautifully but I severely underestimated the amount of time it would take to get them to this point. I struggled to get these to stain as dark as I wanted. I tried just staining them at first and then had to go back and sand them down to get them to stain darker. Good quality for the price. I needed a 4' sliding door for a storage room in my basement. I thought of building one myself, but the price of the materials and hardware would have been highter than the cost of this kit and everything needed came in the box. I put a coat of polyurethane on the parts before assembly. Assembly was straight forward but not easy. It would probably be easier with a smaller door. Getting the tongue and groove panels lined up was a bit of a challenge with so many of them required. I'm happy with the result. It's a good solid door and it's easy to open and close.. Dan. This door beautifully serves the need I had to separate a den from the dining room to provide overnight guests more privacy. It has a nice finish and is solid enough to provide a bit of sound deadening between the two rooms. My installer did note the lack of a dado cut in the door for the track, so he didn’t notice that a particular end should have been “up” - so I think he mounted it upside down (the door’s cross panel is about 5” deep on one end and 7” on the other). Not a big enough deal visually for me to have the door re-mounted, but an indicator for which end was intended to be the top of the door would have been nice. The door doesn’t come with handles but I was able to find finger flush-mount and loop handles that worked beautifully. The door is made solid enough to screw handles into it.. Caryn. Seattle, WA. I like the look, the color, the feel... but I did have a problem with the vertical boards not being straight on one door. One board was warped badly which made the one door not line-up with the other door... where it would stick out about 2" at the bottom, past the straight door. The Seller was good to work with and understanding, they sent me a set of new vertical boards to replace the warped one/s. Sadly, one of the replacement boards was warped as well, but not as bad. I installed it anyway and still wasn't happy with the look because it too stuck out at the bottom past the straight door when closed (but only about 1"). After a couple weeks I decided to permanently connect the two doors together using steel straps (top, bottom and middle). I know this would not work for everyone because your doors may slide in opposite directions when opened. For me it worked great because I can only slide my doors one direction to open. The end result is that it appears I have 2 doors, but they slide as one and look pretty nice. I like having them tied together and I like the look of two doors rather than having one big door..
