Made with hand-knotted wool and originating from Western Persia circa 1870-1880, this 18x20 antique rug is an extremely rare and exciting new oversized Ziegler rug in Rug & Kilim’s collectible curations of this celebrated weaving tradition. On the Design: This classic Zeigler design features a sublime balance between the warm terracotta prayer niche and luminous ivory spandrels, each zone articulated with botanical precision that demonstrates the workshop's legendary attention to detail. The central prayer arch creates dramatic vertical emphasis through its stepped geometric perimeter, while the suspended lamp motif introduces delicate symmetry that anchors the design’s spiritual symbolism. The terracotta field maintains elegant restraint, its saturated warmth providing a chromatic foundation against which scattered ivory palmettes achieve maximum luminosity. The upper and lower ivory panels reveal microscopic botanical complexity—tiny rosettes, palmette clusters, and vine scrolls rendered with calligraphic precision. This Ziegler transcends conventional floor covering to function as architectural artwork, its mihrab format creating dramatic focal points that enhance spatial hierarchy in luxury interiors. The piece excels in formal reception areas where its prayer rug symbolism adds cultural gravitas while the sophisticated palette harmonizes with European antiques and contemporary furnishings alike.Condition: This antique Zeigler rug further enjoys good condition for its age and lineage.

On the Design: A distinguished example of 19th-century French artistry, this exquisite Savonnerie rug exemplifies the neoclassical inspiration with tasteful elegance. A graceful circular medallion filled with floral rosettes, encircled by concentric ornamental bands is set against a tan field. Of particular note are the four stylized squirrel motifs, artfully woven in warm brown tones and positioned symmetrically around the central medallion. These charming figures, nestled amid the foliage, lend a sense of whimsical vitality and narrative character to the composition—an unusual and captivating feature within the Savonnerie tradition. This 14x21 antique Aubusson rug is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s European rug collection—a masterpiece of the French Neoclassical flatweave style, handwoven in wool and believed to originate from France circa 1910-1920. On the Design: Admirers of the craft may appreciate this transitional rug among the works of a special workshop among early 20th-century reimaginings of the Aubusson design sensibility, as well as a uniquely pastoral, French Country piece found in this weaving tradition. Keen eyes for detail will particularly note this rug’s masterful execution of symmetry, scale, and movement among its countless beauties—all exemplary of the French tapestry weave style, like few that remain of its kind today. The colorway is one of the most delicious elements here, where a light mint tone is favored in the field. Further, an atypical central medallion surrounded by floral patterns and cartouches flourish in sky blue, gold, red, and green tones. Altogether it’s a piece as deeply personal in its subtext as it is in the details and beauties that distinguish it in our craft—both a masterpiece and a true collector’s rug, teeming with history and culture. Boasting a particularly versatile large size with vast applications in interior design today. Condition: This antique Aubusson rug is in good condition for its age and origin, following minor restoration by our in-house master weavers.

Hydro Systems was moved by the all-important vision of The National Center for Civil and Human Rights and its visual expression of harmony. Incorporating the graceful form of the architecture which inspired it, the Marquis bathtub mirrors the artful curves of the building in the refined simplicity of its sloped shape. The Marquis balances exquisite symmetry with the unexpected, as the ever-so-slight lilt to its rim adds interest and draws the eye. Shaped to resemble cupped hands that cradle you as you relax and reflect, the Marquis defines design excellence. The NCCHR is a museum of experiences rather than objects. Envisioned by architect Philip Freelon, the institution honors Atlanta’s civil rights achievements and encourages visitors to connect the history of America to the broader global human rights movements of today. The exterior is composed of two curved walls, which resemble interlocking arms, cradling the building’s glass-paneled central core. A shining example of how beautiful design can inspire and represent the values of the community it serves, the architecture of the NCCHR conveys the ideals of unity and equality for all.

This 15x15 vintage square rug is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s European rug collection—a masterful Spanish approach to French Aubusson rugs of the Neoclassical flatweave style—handwoven in wool and believed to originate from “The Real Fábrica de Tapices” (Royal Tapestry Factory) in Madrid circa 1960-1970. On the Design: Admirers of the craft may appreciate any work from this workshop as an extremely collectible work today, and this rug’s masterful execution of symmetry, scale, and detail are exemplary of the Royal Factory. The colorway is one of the most delicious elements here, where brown, green and blue tones are favored in the medallions and floral patterns atop cream and beige tones. So too is the detailing, not just in the quintessential sense of impressionism of an Aubusson like those in the cartouches of the corners, but in the graceful subtlety of the field’s execution of muted florals. This honestly brings more attention to the finesse of their execution, and an element dimension that’s exceptional even for this provenance renowned for its works of majesty and detail. It’s also an oversized square rug, with a particularly versatile large size with vast applications in interior design today. Altogether it’s a piece as deeply personal in its subtext as it is in the details and beauties that distinguish it in our craft—both a masterpiece and a true collector’s rug, teeming with history and culture. Condition: This vintage Aubusson square rug is in good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.

Made with hand-knotted wool and velvet, this 12x13 antique Savonnerie rug represents an extraordinary addition to Rug & Kilim's European collection—an exquisite example of French decorative arts that brilliantly bridges classical and Art Deco sensibilities. On the Design: This antique European exemplar showcases the evolution of the celebrated Savonnerie tradition, featuring an octagonal central field filled with delicate floral rosettes arranged in a refined allover pattern against a subtle ivory ground. This central panel is framed by a rich auburn transitional border that creates remarkable depth and dimensional interest in the overall design. The colorway demonstrates exceptional refinement, employing a palette that harmonizes delicate pastels with rich complementary tones. The ivory central field provides an elegant canvas for the intricate floral patterns, while the surrounding borders create a thoughtful progression of colors—transitioning from the rich auburn inner border to a spectacular floral garland against a pale blue ground, all contained within a final rose-pink outer border. What distinguishes this exceptional piece is its seamless integration of classical Savonnerie design principles with Art Deco sensibilities evident in the geometric precision of the octagonal medallion and the stylized approach to the floral elements. The border, with its exuberant floral garland, creates a frame of extraordinary sophistication that perfectly balances the more controlled central field without competing with it. This rug represents a pivotal moment in European decorative arts when traditional motifs were being reinterpreted through a more modern aesthetic lens. Its impressive scale and exceptional condition make it a significant historical design capable of defining an interior space through its presence. Condition: This antique Savonnerie rug further enjoys an overall good condition for its age and origin, with some mild wear consistent with its age and provenance.
