The variations in the wood give the table character and make each section of the top slightly different. It has a warm, rich finish that allows the grain to show through beautifully rather than looking overly uniform or manufactured. Even though this is a large, solid table, it does not visually weigh down the room. The open design and lower shelf give it a lighter appearance while still providing a substantial amount of surface and storage space. Assembly is definitely a two-person job because of the weight of the solid wood pieces. Once assembled, however, the table feels extremely sturdy. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase.
