Scalloped top headboard featuring horizontal planks paired with a low profile Scalloped footboard.

I was looking for a solid wood product that was made in America. Too many of the foreign products smell awful from outgassing. I was thrilled when I found this beautiful bed on Wayfair made by Vaughn Bassett in Virginia. The bed received was solid wood, had no outgas smell and was the size that I expected. My issue was with the finish on the headboard and football. The wood is pitted (I think they call it worm holes) which was not evident in the online photos. The front is also wire brushed so it is a bit more distressed looking then I was expecting. I would have kept the bed for those reasons, except that the top front right corner of the footboard had deep grooves that were brown wood color (not painted white inside) and made the top of the footboard look cracked. Since the product was received in 3 separate packages (headboard, rails and footboard), I asked Wayfair for just the footboard to be replaced. The manufacturer did not agree with replacing the footboard (saying this was just distressing) and as a result Wayfair agreed to a full refund. I'm disappointed that I have to search for another option, but feel that Wayfair did all they could do to try and resolve the issue and when they could not, I quickly received a full refund..
