The grommets are placed approximately 2 feet apart around the perimeter of each shade cloth. The percentage listed indicates the amount of shade that is being provided. This also reflects how tightly woven the shade cloths are.

This covers a 16x12 pergola to each outside edge purlin with the use of bungee balls. It does pool small amounts of water after rain but does evaporate. Mind you, we hung it out a few days to allow it to stretch out before really placing it where we wanted it. Do hang on an angle so water will run off...we imagine we will still have to push up the center to drain off if a heavy rain, but we haven't had that yet.
