The underside of the cushions is not upholstered. Seams are obvious generally, but especially so around the nail-head assembly of the arms. If your looking for a plump rolled arm that's nice to lay your head on, this will disappoint -- as will the interior padding and throw pillows. The pillow-fringe is sparse. The fabric feels thin and rough to the touch. It's advertised as a synthetic/cotton mix, but it's hard to feel the cotton. Not a piece around which to center a room or color-scheme. Also, after assembly, the boxes weren’t disposed of; I was advised that I was responsible for hauling the boxes away. I’m handicapped and this was very difficult. I think the couch is beautiful, looks just like the pictures. The back pillows on the couch are hard. I was also missing 1 bracket to keep both couches together in the center. I do think the arms on the chair could be a tiny bit longer. This is exactly what I need for my small apartment, I love it. Couch is still comfortable and eye catching.
