Overall, I absolutely love this desk! It did arrive with a few minor issues that Wayfair rectified. This is a solid piece of furniture. I would definitely recommend paying for the delivery and setup. The two compartments on the top lift up to open but sadly they do not lock in place to remain open, which could be a little inconvenient but there is a slow close on it so it does not slam closed. **TIP** there is a piece that covers the top so you can possibly sit items up there that is probably some type of mdf board and it probably blends in with the packaging and mine was thrown out, so just be mindful and ask for that piece. The veneer on the desktop came with dark, greasy fingerprints and chips missing around the edges. The instructions that were included did not match in any way, shape or form, the product in the box. The part list did not have all of the parts. The assembly pictographs were unclear, and most of them did not match the parts that I eventually used. Many of the metal fasteners stripped while I tightened them, despite using a hand screw driver and many years experience in carpentery. The copious amount of extra hardware included indicates they have a generic package of hardware that they ship, but many of the components still do not match what is in the instructions. I wish I knew the dimensions of the drop down before buying! It is not what I thought it was, but it is good for its intended purpose. I wish it would have stated the dimensions for the drop down panel. It is 15in x 8.75in. So if you have a really small sewing machine, it will work fine. Also, it is a little misleading. The panel doesnt drop and hide away the sewing machine. It drops down a max of 5.5in. So it is meant for dropping the sewing machine down so the table is level with the needle plate. So, it definitely works for that purpose for a small machine (you can see in the picture, there is no way I will be able to use the drop down feature). I have a Juki workhorse, so its not really what I wanted. But the lower shelf is big enough to fit my Juki, so I can have a fold out sewing machine desk and a place to hold my machine. Not exactly what I was looking for, but the price was decent. We removed a stack washer/dryer from a space in our 1/2 bath. This cabinet fit perfect. Assembly was fairly easy, I did it myself, had to take a closer look at some instruction and thought “I hope I’m right”. All said and done I finished in a couple hours. Fits perfect, doesn’t feel extremely sturdy but we have it between a wall & another built-in. I think I would definitely secure it to the rear wall with the brackets supplied.
