The clock is quite handsome, and the overall appearance is better than expected. The color is exactly what I was looking for. The brown is very rich with just a hint of red. Dark but not espresso. A little light and it really brings out the character and color. The clock isn’t real wood but it isn’t plastic, which you get on some (often cheaper) clocks. The engineered wood does keep it lightweight, however. My one complaint is to get the clock and chime working is hair-pulling. I followed the directions to a T and the problem is the little hand keeps falling down to around the 6 o’clock mark when you try to set the time. I ended up getting it to work but without the chime.. This hunters style German quartz cuckoo clock features wooden hands, a wood dial with Roman numerals, and a warm light yellow hand painted and hand carved cuckoo bird. The cuckoo clock case features hand carved oak leaves, a bunny, a bird, and a buck at the peak of the roof with two crossed rifles beneath him. Two cast iron pine cone weights are suspended beneath the clock case by two seperate brass chains. The hand carved pendulum continously swings back and forth. On every hour the cuckoo bird emerges from a swinging door above the clock dial and counts the hour by cuckooing once per hour. Example At one oclock the bird will cuckoo once At eight oclock the bird will cuckoo eight times The half hour is announced with one cuckoo call.
