I'm really happy with these stair carpets- it was hard to find ones with the correct dimensions for my staircase which has pretty thick edging, and in the color that matches my painted stairs and is textured. I was worried they weren't going to be soft/cushioned enough, but the cross texture feels comfortable on my feet and adds that extra traction I was looking for. All around a great purchase! *Some things to note- it was hard to peel the thin plastic off the back, so just take your time with it, and make sure the Velcro truly lines up with the carpet edge or it will look crooked and not stick right. Because it is a sturdy non stick non slip luxury rubber backing. You don't need to purchase another carpet stair tread tape for your children, elderly parents, and pets. It can tightly adhere to wooden, ceramic tile, and marble surfaces, keeping the stair treads in place. Unlike tape, rubber backed stair treads will not cause damage to the surface when you attempt to remove them. No additional steps are required to place the stair carpet, just clean the stairs and put them on.

I was looking for anti-slip treads that I didn't have to use adhesive on and these were a clear winner. They do have a bit of a funky chemical smell right out of the package because they are rubberized, but it dissipated within a day. I have an older home and need smaller sized stair treads. These are perfect! It was very helpful that they're offered in a variety of sizes (not all treads are). It sounds like some customers are expecting too much or haven't read the description. This is a "temporary" solution, even though it is also billed as durable and long lasting. This is not intended to be a decorating highlight. I ordered two, cut them to fit, and they were lifesavers during construction/remodeling of a two-story home. While they will not fit tight to stairs without reinforcement, they do however stay pretty securely in place, and literally saved my cream carpeted stairs from potential extreme damage and wear from contractors, movers, and us during a very dirty period for the house. Caught so much dirt, washable, didn't look great, but served the purpose of temporarily protecting the carpet in a superior way. Due to the foam backing, it did not shift (not much - had to be periodically readjusted) under the feet of movers carrying hundreds of pounds upstairs with no tears or holes like plastic or paper. No need for damaging and difficult adhesive. When used as a temporary solution, an excellent option to protect your home. Only 4 stars just because it can shift and bunch a little and can't think of a real solution for that. Still, a lifesaver - was glad to pay the money to protect expensive carpet.. Suzette. Wood Stair treads for carpeted stairs can be washed by hand washing, but if you’d like to wash the stair cover, just remove decorative stair treads from your stairs, then put jute stair rugs into the washing machine for cleaning with the mild detergent.

Stair treads are easy to install, however you need to use double sided carpet tape to hold them and place and avoid slips and falls. We installed these for our common stairway that is used by tenants instead of a runner because you can replace a single tread that is damaged or dirty easier than you can repair a damaged stair runner. We purchased two different widths because we have both rectangular and triangular stairs. The triangular stairs are not as wide as the rectangular stairs. The different widths work. We did not need to cut or trim. So far it has been easy to clean the treads and the stairs. The design is brilliant, but the execution of some key aspects is horrid. There is a piece of metal cut and shaped to cover the lip of the stair. The glue that is meant to adhere the fabric to the metal has already failed on most of the stairs, just sitting in the box. If these were installed as-is, they would create a dangerous trip hazard going up the stairs, as every step would be an opportunity to catch your foot.
