Hickory is an excellent choice for furniture due to its innate strength, density, and character. We source our hickory from the American southeast where it is harvested in late fall and through mid-winter when its moisture content is low. From here it is kiln-dried to further remove moisture and the bark tightens around the logs during the process providing a truly beautiful texture, and a time-tested look and durability.

This bench is a beautifully crafted piece that will serve as a dining bench in the breakfast room of our mountain house. It is heavy and stable. (about 70 pounds). Can seat 3 kids...The alder top finish looks very red and I may have to stain it darker as it doesn't match my alder pieces. The packing was overkill and very difficult to unpack. The wood seat is excellent. The factory starter holes on the seat don’t align up with the screw hole brackets on the frame. Instruction sheet states to “use the holes as guidelines to centre the base to the seat top”, and then says that the “holes won’t align”, so the factory starter holes are useless and you have to align it yourself. The rubber tips on the legs fit loose and fall off easily so you have to glue them on. The curved bottom end of the metal frame has no padding and it will damage the floor.. Paul. Sooke, BC.
