Ok, giving this 4.5 stars for aesthetic and solid wood frame. HOWEVER, please be cautioned There were some dings and splintering that are fortunately hidden after assembly with one acception. The assembly itself self took 2.5 hrs with a couple sanity breaks. Each spindled piece has an item sticker that would be visible and thus needed removal. I ruined my nails and spent 10x as long removing stickers and the glue as I did putting the head and footboard together. After FINALLY getting this bed put together, I almost cried contemplating the labor intensive deconstruction that would be required to take it out of the room. This project is not for the faint of heart. It is, indeed, a project. I would not deduct stars as paying for assembly is an option. Also, an oversight on my part, but the bedframe will not house a mattress and box spring, only a mattress. My biggest frustration was the assembly, and second the blemishes on the frame. I like putting his favorite books and toys on the shelves, and I can plug in one of his night lights into the port which makes up for the light bar not working. This rustic wood farmhouse platform bed is a great bed. It is very sturdy with the metal frame and would agree you do not need a box spring, but for dimension we decided to put both box spring and mattress on the bed. The wood has a very nice finish to it that makes it look like real walnut wood. However it is light weight and very easy for one person to move and position on their own. It also was very easy to assemble and only took about 20 minutes which is quite surprising for such a nice piece of structured furniture. The headboard is not overly tall and the bed sits at a normal height even with a box spring. Overall we are very pleased with the bed and would recommend the purchase at the price. point.. Tracey.
