Does a good job for what it is (very compact and easy to use). Not a good tool for cleaning larger areas (fluid containers are very small) but great for spot treatments. I’ve had vacuums in the past where pet hair would wrap around the brush and kill the motor or need constant cleaning. Not here. After several uses, there was zero tangling and barely any maintenance required. That alone deserves applause. One of my favorite features is the automatic cord rewind. It sounds minor, but it’s the kind of small convenience that makes cleaning feel less like a chore. Just push a button, and the cord zips away neatly—no more winding or wrangling cords. The swivel steering makes it super agile, even around table legs and tight spaces. Plus, the edge-to-edge cleaning is legit—it picks up debris right up to the wall, so you’re not left having to go back in with a handheld. The dust cup is easy to empty, and it doesn’t make a mess. I can vacuum my whole space in one go without having to stop and empty it multiple times. If I had to nitpick, I wish the vacuum were just a touch quieter—but honestly, with everything else it does right, that’s not a dealbreaker at all. Well, first, it is NOT a vacuum cleaner, and it’s barely for carpets. Mostly it’s a hard floor cleaner, scrubber, and polisher. It’s a household sized version of the hard floor polishers that large institutions use. I picked this one because it DOESN’T have a tank. The reviews on other sites indicate the tanks can leak, and I’m perfectly capable of using a squirt bottle of cleaner/water/polish. All of Koblenz’s polishers are very similar in terms of hardware, the differences are mostly in tank, included accessories and the length of the cord. The other aspect of these scrubber/polishers is they do not have any suction function, so any liquid you put down, you have to mop up (and if you’re using the carpet brushes on carpet, you want to be sparing with the cleaner, and use Dry Foam or Dry cleaner, not anything formulated for a wet extraction cleaner). That said, I knew that going in, and I knew what I needed. We have 30 year old wood floors that are at the limit of their very old, yellowed polyurethane, and it’s time to refinish them. The polyurethane is worn through in places, so I knew I needed to scrub it off, and a floor sander is a really good way to just destroy floors as a DIYer, but scrubbing pads are pretty forgiving. So I have scrubbed my kitchen floors (and yes, they were dirtier and with more buildup than I realized), have replaced the urethane, and polished with a wood floor specific polish intended for high traffic areas, and they look good as new. If I could give this 10 starts I would. I used to have a competitor brand that had not so good suction - and I just thought that was how all home steam cleaners were, so I've gone a long time without having a steam cleaner in my home - and my carpets looked like it. Recently my German Shepherd has decided to mark in the house so I had to do something. This Shark steam cleaner is nothing short of a miracle. SO easy to use. And so effective. I cleaned 4 areas and the carpet looks like new - with no residual pet odor or strong cleaning solution odor. The suction is so efficient that my carpet was dry within 3 hours (with the help of a fan I set on it). Yesterday I came home from work on lunch and my Australian Shepherd had eaten almost a whole bag od treats and it gave her - we'll just say - digestive problems. it was a disaster on my area rugs - 4 different areas. I cleaned up the bulk of the "waste" first then set this Shark to work and let me tell you - my area rugs have not looked this clean since I first rolled them out. I didn't know if I was going to do my area rugs with this because I was worried about water getting through to the hardwood - but it uses so little water in somehow such an efficient way that there was no dampness on the bottom of the rugs... I checked in several places. When I ordered it, I was worried about the size of the dirty water tank as some of the reviews talked about how small it is - but to me it was perfect. Manageable. My older steam cleaner had a huge dirty water tank and it was messy and cumbersome to empty. The tank on this Shark is perfect to just pull off and dump in the toilet - give it a good rinse and click it back into place. Same with the clean water/solution tank. All very easy to manage. Trust me - this is THE one you want. I've now used it on regular pile carpet in the upstairs of my house and on low pile area rugs and it is nothing short of shocking on how well this thing works. Note - I've yet to use the hand tool part. The blue solution that comes with it is in a larger container than the main solution in the yellow labeled bottle. To me that should be the other way around. I use far more of the regular yellow labeled solution than the blue labeled one for the hand tool. And I ordered 4 sets of the solution in my original order - not knowing that this would be the case and again the blue bottle is bigger. I guess people use the hand tool more than I do. Anyways - in future I'll just be ordering the yellow label by itself... it'll take me a long time to work through using the blue label solution with the hand held tool. Bad knees and hands - so I'm just not one to get down on my hands and knees to do that kind of thing and the main part of the machine is literally so effective I haven't had to do that. Good luck. I’m very happy with this portable carpet cleaner. It’s compact and doesn’t take up much storage space, but it still has enough power to remove dirt and stains effectively.
