It has a warm, rich finish that allows the grain to show through beautifully rather than looking overly uniform or manufactured. Even though this is a large, solid table, it does not visually weigh down the room. The open design and lower shelf give it a lighter appearance while still providing a substantial amount of surface and storage space. This is a really cute table, both style wise and in color. If you are not going to move it around I think the screws they have provided would be fine but being you are screwing into MDFparticle board a few of the screws did not get good purchase into the top and bottoms tiers.
