Urethane faux wood shutters stay true to authentic wood by not only having a wood grain but also by having the ability to be either gel-stained or painted. The longevity of this faux wood material is priceless, without sacrificing the real wood appearance of the shutters.

Upon arrival, the PVC should be painted before installation with the exterior color of your choosing. PVC gable vents are available in a functional option, to allow airflow, and in a non-functional option if you want to enhance the architectural features of your home simply. Keep the traditional look of an exterior gable vent, without the downsides of traditional wood, by ordering PVC gable vents.

They look nice, but provide no actual air flow. But they replace some wooden ones that had started to rot and animals had found their way through them. These should keep the critters out of the attic. Don't rely on them for venting your attic. They are maintenance free. Timothy. Louisville, TN. Sat Aug 16 2025

It's almost perfect for where I put it. I have a very high (~12') octagonal window in my bedroom, and it's impossible to find a shade that's right for it. But the sun shines in that window right in my eyes and wakes me up at 6am every morning, so I wanted to cover that window without making it look ridiculous. I have white plantation shutters on the lower windows, so it looks nice with those. The reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because there was a choice between "functional" and "non-functional" versions of this cover, but the terms weren't defined. I assumed they meant that functional has moving slats, and non-functional was slats that don't move. So I ordered the functional version to be sure I could close them all the way But what they meant was that functional has holes between the slats (for allowing airflow in an attic, I guess), and non-functional is solid - no holes. I should have gotten the non-functional version, because it would have blocked all the light. But I couldn't wait another day to get rid of that early morning light, so I just installed it right away and started getting the benefit of blocked light in the morning. It's much better, but I might someday replace it with the non-functional version.. Cheryl. Redwood City, CA. Tue May 09 2023

In needing a replacement for the Gable Vents we were at odds if we could find anyone to craft one of wood--needing a true craftsman to do that but we located these and they did one better by being of composite material so they will last longer.. Beth P. Thu Jul 16 2015

Add natural beauty to any interior or exterior project with distinct western red cedar or Douglas fir. Rustic wood brackets, corbels, rafter tails, and outlooks will contain unique colors, grains, textures, knots, sapwood & heartwood content, and possible sap bleeding, and even natural checking, splitting & natural cracks. These variations are what make the Rustic Collection stand out from the rest. Stand out from the cookie-cutter homes; by using any product from Ekena's Rustic Collection.

Bought the primed functional half round gable vent, and am happy with the solid construction. Before painting needed to remove the insect screen, which was stapled to the back, to avoid getting paint on the screen. Also needed to sand some edges due to wood splinters and one slat which had a significant raised grain pattern. Reattached the screen with brass nails as the staples were unusable.. Caroline B.
