They lift the ottoman just off the ground a little and add another texture to the leather look. The brown color is nice, looks like a soft caramel. Ottoman is exactly what I wanted and fits the space perfectly, but the holes on the bottom for the legs were poorly placed. The legs hang out rather noticeably.
