The length of the curtain rod should be 4 to 12 inches longer than the size of the window frame. This extra length (referred to as the "overlapping part") enables the curtains to be neatly stacked on both sides when opened. For a 36-inch window, please choose a curtain rod that is 40 to 48 inches long.
