The item is very heavy. It is compressed laminated wood. It took about an hour to put it together. The most challenging part was adjusting the hinges on the doors. There was no directions on how to do this. Thank goodness for YouTube! Originally the doors wouldn’t shut and we’re not even but after adjustment, they all work great. I am editing my review after a couple of days of use and “sitting” with our purchase. Pros, I like the design element and details of the piping along the front and rear of the table. It gives great movement. I like the fact that the table has large storage space and functionality. I like how large the table is. I don’t care that the table itself doesn’t look or feel like real wood. It looks like particle board and has a hollow sound when you tap the top of it. It also wears fingerprints easily so I am going to have to constantly wipe down the table. That is why I gave 45 stars. Feels very sturdy, but it is a laminate so be aware it's not solid wood. It looks great under our big living room window. When you're putting it together pay attention to which door is which and fiddle with the door placement with the hinge screws to make sure they are all aligned. This walnut coffee table is beautiful and heavy. I love the abundance of storage and the way it ties into the room. It took fairly long to put together (1.5 hrs) due to the amount of parts but turned out great.The only issue I ran into was one of the supports was cracked, but support helped with this issue..
