Decanting old wines, just a few moments before they are served helps to ensure that the clarity and brilliance of the wine are not obscured by any deposit that may have developed over time. Decanting young wines several hours before they are served gives the wine a chance to bloom and attain a stage of development that normally requires years of aging.

I would like to experience more red wine, and a decanter is a perfect way to share the experience with friends. I can find "cheaper" glasses, but these are big bang for your buck if you want to get a quality glass and not break the bank.
