The artist, Richard Ryder, developed an affinity towards art at an early age where he took every opportunity to incorporate art into his assignments. During his early years, while attending elementary school, he would doodle on the blank side of envelopes or any discarded paper. This drove his passion to pursue taking studio art courses while in high school and continued that pursuit through to four-year formal art education. As an artist that is heavily influenced by graphic design, Art Deco, and traditional animation, Richard aims to capture the beauty in whichever subject he is painting. He focuses on ways to exploit the basic elements of art to create a satisfying and cohesive design. As an artist, Richard seeks to improve and challenge himself. He states that with the internet, I am constantly inspired by art either in the fine art or commercial field. It is this exposure that leads me to constantly explore different mediums and styles.

Here is a superb cluster of these incredible new blue Barites that have been discovered this past year. The crystal growth is in a radial parallel and divergent aggregates of very elongated flattened crystals with good terminations, very acute, between transparent to translucent, bright, and with an intense and uniform sky blue color. They are definitely one of the finest barite discoveries in decades when it comes down to the size of crystals, color, luster, and aesthetics. These are not going to be around long.

Resembling a block of metal that was frozen as its textural surface solidified, the sculpture has a surprise in store: it's made of composite that our finish artisans have slathered with a luminous liquid finish. Several benefits of this material include how extremely durable it is and how much more lightweight it is than a chunk of steel. These attributes reflect the Phillips Collection ethos, which we call modern organic.

Gaze into the crystal ball...our cast iron hands with a bronze finish hold a 6-inch crystal sphere and perhaps some secrets.

This is easily one of my favorite pieces in my home. It is incredibly captivating and makes me smile every time I look at it. I love the juxtaposition of the sculptural hand with the crystal sphere—it feels artistic, unexpected, and a little whimsical. The substantial weight and beautifully aged finish give it the character of something collected over time rather than a newly purchased decorative object. It’s a true conversation piece and even more striking in person.. Michael. Miami, FL. Thu Sep 03 2026

Although born and raised in Los Angeles, Artist Van Garret has been heavily influenced by traveling abroad to a multitude of countries, especially Iceland. Music is a big part of his life and it sparked his creativity even before he began painting. In fact, Van did not begin painting until he was in college and he is self-taught. “Art was something that was always in my genes. It makes me happy. I believe that every artist leaves a piece of themselves in their artwork. In turn, it makes me happy when people get to own part of those pieces to share with the world.” Van prefers working in liquid acrylics and watercolors because of their fluidity. “I like how the colors flow. I like to observe how the different shapes and mixtures come alive.” Van finds animals, humans and nature are his favorite subjects to paint. He is inspired by nature, people and music. When not painting, Van runs marathons, travels and plays the guitar.
