This is exactly what I needed. Two men put it together for me and it went together quickly. We are very to have a play area for our dog, a great space to work on training too since we live in the woods and fencing would be cost prohibitive. I love the cover since we live in the Pacific Northwest and rain is often in the forecast. We opted to put artificial grass down to prevent a muddy mess. The reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the entire kennel once assembled is actually light, the three of us could lift it easily to move it. The framework is seems sturdy but my helper’s recognized right away that with the winds where I live once the canopy is on it could, and probably would, become airborne, the pegs that come with it may be sufficient for some places but not here. They came up with a solution of 4 large landscaping boulders wired to the frame so it looks good and can still be hosed or blown out easily. I am hopeful that this will give us years of fun.. It was pretty easy to build. I love how long it is. For Bassets I needed a long play area. I plan to plant herb in box planters around the perimeter. Different dog friendly plants and herbs. Once complete and set up its a decent enclosure. We got it for our chickens and attached the hen house to it, just left off a couple bars and zip tied the entrance right to it. The instructions absolutely suck and we wound up having to unbolt like 200+ connections to double up the gussets. Now, my wife and daughter got the base started and then asked for my help, I never questioned whether or not they started it correctly so perhaps they missed a step. The door is like waist high to my 6’ frame so it’s a definite crouch to get in there. I can stand in between the “roof trusses”. It has a good appearance and I wonder how it will hold up to the AZ monsoon winds. I used spiral drill in anchors to pin it down, no way the little stakes it came with will keep this in our yard in high winds. I am contemplating what to do in a couple years when the top is sun rotted away, there are only a few trusses to make the roofline and while it looks great, it does not take much to push it off level/plumb. To my amazement, this came in three relatively small, but heavy boxes and we were a few nuts and bolts short but they at least give you a spare parts bag, which had enough to complete the build. Be prepared that this comes in literally hundreds of individual pieces so it can look overwhelming, just follow it step by step and comes together rather nicely, be patient nd take your time. It really is an amazing engineering feat to get this big ole enclosure in these three little boxes. Overall, I am pretty happy with it. I wish the top had the same level of structure (aka bars) as the walls so the fabric top can be optional for predators and when it simply rots away but it would be easy enough to just get some netting and/or a shade later.. This is a very pretty alternative to the traditional metal dog crate. It arrived in perfect condition (no chipped corners or dings, that others mentioned) and my husband had it together in less than an hour. It does have a yellowish tinge to it(not as white as the photos suggest), but we were ok with it. Our 50lb hound/shepherd mix puppy has ample space to stand and stretch out. I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because, I think with a little time and boredom, she would easily be able to chew or dig her way out of this. We are using it only as a sleeping crate in our bedroom, so I am not worried about that. But I wouldn't put her in this and then leave the house. Could have been fancier could have come in a different color. Backside is not that pretty and black screws on the pickled gray color weren't very attractive. I bought a PVC screen online from a big box store as they say and my husband used a couple of screws to attach it to the back, because that's what divides our living area. The screen was almost exactly the size width and height of the unit. No cutting necessary. We needed one that was 40ish inches and this at 47 and 23 in deep worked for our purpose. It serves divider and lamp table as well as dog house, between our living area and dining den in a long narrow room. I preferred quite a few of them, but most of the sizes in the pretty furniture ones, were between 55 and 80 to 90 in long. That just would not have worked for us. It was easy to put together just follow directions and make sure you have everything before you start. Took my husband a couple of hours. Going slowly to do it correctly. We're used to this sort of assembly. So there were no surprises. The drawers have rails so they slide easily and they hold a whole bunch of stuff. One of the reasons I chose this one over another one that was about this size is because on that one, the drawers as they were called were actually just wooden boxes that you shoved into cubbies. They did not have rails they did not slide back and forth easily. I couldn't have stood to hear that noise more than once. So this is lovely with nice sliding drawers. I have 20ish pound shelties who love to curl up and they took to it immediately. It's very nice for the price which was on sale plus I had some Wayfair points. So if it doesn't work out I can always give it away and not worry about that. I'm still looking for a really cool mid-century one that is about this size but this will do for now. I've got the top covered with plants and lamp and collectibles and photos and all kinds of things and it really does hold a lot of stuff. It is very very sturdy, and I guess I appreciate the fact that the wood is I don't know MDF or something, because real wood would smell like real stain and I don't want that kind of annoyance in the house or for the dogs. There is prettier furniture around, but what the heck we never entertain nobody will see it but us and I think it's just fine it's kind of a warm brownish Gray. Feels real nice on the top and latches easily in the latches can be locked. So far so good did I mention how sturdy?! I have provided a photo of the back side of this thing because no one anywhere I looked at reviews, had shown that and since this part faces our living room, I was interested to know just how finished it was and it is finished and though it will be covered up by chair or sofa or something, it's still is not something raw behind, it can be freestanding. Good value, good purchase. would have preferred the doors to be sliding doors back and forth, and or that it had latchable doors at either end. But this is a pretty decent design and the good reviews about it are warranted. By the way if you're putting something together like this you may find that the pre-drilled holes can be a regular sometimes. If they are a little tight, you can sort of stick a screwdriver in them and twist it around until you break off a little bit of the area. Or just start screwing in the screws and it will make its own way. If the holes are pre-drilled too large find a couple of toothpicks to stick in there to make it tighter.
