I ordered a cantilever umbrella that had a metal X base which couldn't support the weight of the umbrella so I ordered this to hold it in place. It took about $15-20 worth of sand from the local hardware store to fill it up. For me the base is SO bulky though. Perhaps this isn't something that can be avoided due to the nature of the item and the weight it needs to compensate for but it takes up a lot of space so just make sure you plan for that. Great chairs for the price. There is some “gapping” in the backs, but I’m pretty sure that I’m the only one who will notice it. I do like that the “bar” across the top of the back is a little lower so you don’t hit your head on it if you lean back. Assembly was fine if you followed the instructions.
