If your primary modern decor colors are gray, bright, white, and black and you want a dramatic and complementary color I would recommend this rug. I found after experimenting with different colored throws pillows and decor items that deep red and Merlot go beautifully with grays, bright white, and blacks. The only negative aspect of this rug was that it was folded tightly on one and instead of rolled hence, I had to turn the rug over and place weights on it and give it a few days to flatten out. I might not use this rug all year as deep redmerlot is more of a fall and winter decor color but for six months of the year, it will be beautiful.
